    Sightings

I have decided to do a series of posts of sightings of my work and designs. Here are some pictures of the Amazon Stripe Beanie I knitted for Allyson Baker. She did a birthday photo shoot with her darling baby boy, August and her husband Rich. I love how the photos turned out. You can see the whole post here. Here are a few images of her wearing her “favorite hat” (Amazon Stripe in Malabrigo Marino Worsted in Natural). I love seeing my designs in action. This is a hat I knitted myself but I would love to get some “sightings” of  items YOU have knit. Allyson is a good…

    My First Do-it-Yourself!

My heart jumps any time I see the letters DIY. Being a “do it yourself: enthusiast, I am constantly trying to find things I can make at home with unique and vintage materials. I was at the home of a friend and fellow artist, Michal Strawbridge, and I saw a chandelier she had created using mason jars. Inspired, I took the idea and made it my own.  I have never written a DIY before unless you count knitting patterns. I thought I take a stab at it and would share the process so someone else could do it themselves! 1. Swag Chain Lamp Kit 2. Brass Colored Push Through Socket…

    One Year Anniversary

One year ago I posted my first pattern on Etsy and Ravelry. I am so thankful to all those who have helped me along the way. My husband who encourages me, keeps me technically current, and takes amazing photos. My wonderful Tech Editor Jules, who has to deal with all my spelling and grammar errrrrrrrors. Fellow designers Amanda Keeys, and Sivia Harding who encourage me and help me along the road of pattern designing. There are many more of you who have emailed me corrections (thank you!), tested patterns, and sent me thoughtful comments and compliments. I am so thankful to you all! Thanks for helping make the last year so wonderfully…

Make it to 1,000 in One Year!

I have been watching the likes on my Flower Headband Pattern on Ravelry. I am only 5 away from having 1,000 people who like my pattern. My goal is to have it up by tomorrow. If any of you are on Ravelry and like the pattern click on the picture to link to the page on Ravelry. Thank you all who have already “heart-ed” it. This has been such a rewarding year. More tomorrow… I have been playing with textures from Amanda Keeys’ Spring Set. I am having so much fun aging my photos. I fall more and more in love with Photoshop every day! Have a splendid day and…

    Favorite

I thought I would share my favorite shirt. This was a Christmas gift from my sister a few years ago. I wish I had ten more in different colors. It has beautiful denim and white stripes and fabulous wooden buttons. It always brings in compliments and you can see why. I am so blessed to have a sister with such a fashion sense. Also I LOVE this antique scroll watch necklace. My sister found it in Australia at a fair. It is wonderful. I added the authentic vintage key on a second chain. Anyway, just wanted to share these photos because I love what they picture and I love how…

    Vintage Scissors

So I saw these scissors on a Japanese version of Amazon a while back and recently I decided to try purchasing something for the site. I was NOT disappointed! They are vintage looking stainless steel manicure scissors. I absolutely love them. They work great and they look good in an apothecary jar or just stabbed in the center of a beautiful ball of yarn. I wanted to share them. You can find them for purchase HERE. Finishing the final proofreading and formatting on this right now. Here is a sneak peek at the stripes head wrap. It will have two options thick stripes (not shown) and thin. Sign up for…

    Sneak Peek…

So I have been working on an e-book that will feature several spring/fall head wraps. These patterns are for a lighter airier head wrap for chilly spring evenings or crisp fall mornings. I am experimenting with color-work. The patterns are ideal for someone who does not have color-work experience because the patterns are simple yet trendy. Along with the head wraps the e-book will also include this spring cowl/hat pattern. All of the patterns will also be sold separately. Here is a sneak peek…

    PALM

I have many sources for inspiration. As many of you have noticed Japanese Fashion is one of the main sources. When my sister recently returned from a year of leaving in Japan she brought back with her a Japanese Fashion magazine/book. It was titled PALM and I was instantly in love. You may remember “the girl in the terrarium” photo, that was the cover of the latest PALM issue. I have been trying to get my hands on the latest issue but the website is in Japanese so I couldn’t figure out how to purchase it. I went out on a limb and contacted the magazine directly and they are…
