    Ragamuffin Princess

My whole life, well as long as I can remember, I have loved making flower crowns. As a little girl I never had tiaras or princess dresses. I had to make everything myself. It worked out for the best because rhinestone tiaras were never my type anyway. I think I love the transient quality of a flower crown. Maybe that is why I still like making flower crowns today. If you want to make a crown like this find flowers with 12-15inch stems and when you add them in leave 4-5 inches out so the crown has a fan of long flower stems. I added each stem on off the…

    Mushrooms

Mushrooms are definitely the new craze. I know I personally love them. I happened upon a few in my yard. Since I have no model any more I decided to take a few nature shots. I think the mushrooms did a pretty good job of modeling…don’t you? I love letting nature inspire me. I am always amazed when I take a second to pause and look around. What beauty can be found under a few blades of grass. Photography is so fantastic, in how it allows us to capture the perfection of a moment in time. Also another photo from the “Blue Hair” photo shoot. I tried some different effects…

DIY: Adding Gilding and a Pirate-ish Photo Shoot

I am so in love with the new trend of hand made and vintage. It makes it so easy to re-purpose jewelry, and to keep up with fashion on a tight budget. I have been wanting to re-make or improve a few items. Specifically I wanted to make some metal pieces look oxidized. I thought about painting them and then removing the paint but that is a little pricy for jewelry. Then I found Gilders Paste on Etsy. It came in the mail two days ago. I thought I would share what I learned I am sure there are experts out there who could add to my successes and fails…

    Dandelion Photo Shoot

My sister, the world traveler, is in the states for a month or two and has been visiting me. We are like minded in our love of photography. My sister Natalie is a, singer, dancer, writer, actress, and photographer. We both love fashion and creative photo shoots. It is so refreshing to have my sister with me because I can envision a photograph and create it WITHOUT being my own model. We found a beautifully huge dandelion while out on a walk. It inspired this photo shoot. I used it as a bit of a product shoot also the fingerless gloves pictured are a new pattern I have been working…

    New Angle

So I have been thinking a lot lately about what inspires me. Usually Winter is the time I spend creating constantly. Summer, usually is my time to absorb. I find inspiration everywhere, much of it comes from things in my home or yard. Here are some photos I took today while trying to look at things from a different angle. I love changing my perspective by taking an ordinary object and looking at it from a different direction or in a new context. Lace… More lace… Yarn… More yarn. I don’t know why I find yarn so inspiring…I think I am inspired by anything that will allow me to create.…

    Vintage Scissors

So I saw these scissors on a Japanese version of Amazon a while back and recently I decided to try purchasing something for the site. I was NOT disappointed! They are vintage looking stainless steel manicure scissors. I absolutely love them. They work great and they look good in an apothecary jar or just stabbed in the center of a beautiful ball of yarn. I wanted to share them. You can find them for purchase HERE. Finishing the final proofreading and formatting on this right now. Here is a sneak peek at the stripes head wrap. It will have two options thick stripes (not shown) and thin. Sign up for…
